Well as these were the local council elections you don't need to understand our parliamentary system. I know many thought they were voting for their MP. The British electorate are as thick as they come.
Ian, I meant that in general I'd make a lousy voter, not just in this specific election. I certainly understand it was for the local council - I live in Chorley, where the conservatives won for the first time since 1982!
I'm not entirly certain many brits understand the parliamentary system either!
