Mighty mighty

DPercussion might be cancelled, The Music Box and Jilly's might be converted into a Tesco, and Band on the Wall might never reopen. Hmmm.

... and Sankeys Soap might not (read: won't) re-open til at least September:

Feels like a phantom bomb's gone off.

There was a poster outside Jillys a while ago stating that, despite rumours to the contrary, the night club would NOT be closing.

Mancubist: yeah, I saw that about Sankeys too... guess not having the students around really cuts into their business. Still, if all of these things come to pass it's going to be a quiet summer...

Mike, I'm confused about the Jillys/Music Box sitch. This came up a while back on Manchester's Journal, and it seemed like people had some pretty convincing evidence that the owners were at least contemplating selling/redeveloping the site - maybe it will open elsewhere? Or maybe it's all vicious rumours spread by feckless bloggers like us.

Shiiiit! This is bad news (if indeed it is news and not just scurrillous gossip). I had a feeling about DPercussion, seeing as there hasn't been any considerable push from the organisers yet (is there a website yet?), but I'd been hopeful about Band On The Wall and Sankey's being able to stay a going concern.

The Jilly's/Music Box thing seems a little far-fetched, considering the fact that they're pretty much always packed out, but we'd all better keep our fingers crossed by the looks of it.

Yeah, they have both a website and a myspace (the latter seems to have more info on it)

I think it's just /dpercussion

Y,

What terrible news. Music box has become that last venue for my waning clubbing years. Been going there for such a long time now. Boo hoo.
